The Buyu Kai training will be Friday through Sunday, January 5-7th, 2024. The group dinner is planned for Saturday evening. The training will be outside at Kapi'olani Park, east of Waikiki beach towards the Diamond Head side of Oahu. (It may rain or be sunny and warm, so be prepared for changing weather).

Training Schedule:

Friday, January 5th
1500 - 1600 Check-in
1600 - 1730 Training (sunset 1800)
1830 - 2100 Dinner (Side Street Inn Kapahulu)

Saturday, January 6th
0830 - 0930 Check-in
0900 - 1200 Training
1200 - 1400 Lunch (Elks Lodge or on your own TBD)
1400 - 1700 Training (Group Picture / Clean-Up)
1800 - 2100 Dinner / Aloha Party Band (Barefoot Cafe or other TBD)

We don't have any specific hotel recommendations, but the Kaimana Hotel is central to Kapi'olani Park where we will be training. If you secure lodging in this Kaimana Hotel area, you won't have to walk or drive very far to the Buyu Kai.

There are also many other hotels/AirBnB in the area you can choose. The Marriott/Westin Moana Surf Rider Hotel is famous and a 30 minute walk east along Waikiki to Kapi'olani Park.

About the Instructor

Jack Hoban served as a US Marine Captain and is a long time practitioner of martial arts. He assisted in the creation of the US Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP) and remains subject matter expert (SME) for the program. He is a master instructor in Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu under Grand Master Masaaki Hatsumi in Japan. He is also a student of the late Robert Humphrey, a noted conflict resolution specialist. Jack’s approach to teaching martial arts in context of the Ethical Warrior is known world-wide. He has three published books and four videos on martial arts and has written numerous articles for international magazines and military journals on combatives and warrior ethics. Mr. Hoban also holds an MBA and is an executive in the healthcare industry Jack's latest book, "The Ethical Warrior," is available HERE.
